I don't know if I can wait!!!

First off, I'm a long time reader first time poster. This site is great.
I really want a Lancer, actually I want an Evo, but a whole year might be a little longer than I want to wait and continue drive around my Cheapclipse.
I may be playing with fire here, but there are already conversions (cosmetic) for the U.S. Lancer to look like an Evo, headlights fender flares and all. How much of a crime would it be to own a look a like??
In other words is an all show no go Evo acceptable?

doesnt have to be no go

i have a lancer ES. i bought one because it wouldnt matter when the evo came over here i still wouldnt be able to afford it, but if i could i would have probably still bought the lancer. for the reason of being able to make it what you want. i plan on purchasing some of the evo cosmetic parts but not all, because as humanoiyd or whatever (sry i forgot your name) pointed out i own a lancer not an evo. i can eventually make my lancer as fast if not faster than the evo.

I'm sorry man...buuuut....Who are you trying to kid???

The amount of money that your going to dump into that lancer to get it up to the stock evo would be better spent on the evo. Instead of spending 10k on the lancer, spend it on the EVO and see where that gets you. By the way...you can build the evo up more then the lancer.
I'll tell you one thing though...the 4G63 i'm willing to bet will fit into the lancer.

Look it up buddy.

Annnnnnd nooooo....it's like putting Supra lights on the back of a prelude man...All show is a no go.

The 4g63 is the 2.4 engine right? And you're saying that would fit?
I would also have to agree and say that it would take too much money and eventual trouble to make a Lancer as fast as an Evo, if it is even possible. And it still will only be a front wheel wannabe and not the awd we've all come to know and love about rally cars.
I just mainly want to know whether or not it's even worth buying a lancer, If it could only be looked at as a wannabe Evo VII with a body kit and not get any respect

I know that it can fit into the lancer cause i've seen a Colt Vista with the 4g63 in it...with a garret 18g turbo. heh...that was some funny shit.

No man it's not worth buying the Lancer...it may be cheaper but it's that way for a reason. Just wait for the Evo if you want to get a good car.
I mean cmon guys...its like ricing out celicas and shit...making it LOOK better but not PERFORM better. To me it sounds the same...making the lancer look like the evo but not coming anywhere close the the stock horsepower.

The 4g63 is a 2ltr engine...and yes it fits.

Dude,
To drive around in a No Go Showboat is like wearing a black belt and not knowing any martial arts. You're gonna get your butt kicked

momma goose,

if you can actually afford an evo, and don't want to wait, why would you ever consider the regular lancer. i'll be starting work sept '02 and will wait for the lancer if it's only gonna be a couple or three months. but if it's going to be too long, i'll go ahead and buy the impreze wrx. i can't see a decision between the 276 HP lancer and 120 HP lancer. get the WRX if you're that impatient.

I'm sorry, but just 'cause you're making a Celica look better doesn't mean yer ricing it out. A Celica (GT-S) has 180hp stock anyways.....it could kick the ever lovin crap outta my car. You don't neccessarily have to make the car as fast as a Porsche 911 Turbo before you make it look equally nice. That's like saying that every show car out there is simply rice.

Ya...it's slow, but with a Turbo and some NOS it might keep up...
