I have a 2003 Tacoma crewcab. Unfortunately I did not purchase the
daytime running lights option when I purchased the vehicle. I heard that I could install this option myself by just buying a daytime relay kit from toyota. Anybody know if this is a easy install to do?

Daytime running lights
I did get the running lights. I think it was an extra $40 for the option. It just turns the headlights without the parking lights when you start the truck. I suggest saving the money to buy beer and just turning your headlights on when you get in the truck.

I have 2004 and I believe this works on earlier model too. Try this:
Turn you light on and never turn them off again. You should notice when you take the key out of the ignition and open the door your light go off

Tell your insurance co that you have DRL's. Then get in your truck and turn the lights "on." then get some electrical tape and wrap the light switch with about 4 layers of tape. This should convince most anyone that you now have DRL's all the way 'round!!! (only half kidding)
