Okay, I have been workin on my hatch lately, and I have found a couple problems. The thing needs a damn valve adj. and I don't know what gasket seals I need to replace or even how to do it (I got a civic book for my year), also, on the drivers side, the damned seat belt is stuck and it is pulled all the way out and won't go back in?? Anyone know how to fix this? Also I wondering if I could swap my 89 doors with 90-91 doors? Do they fit the same? Anyways, I am getting the parts together for the MPFI swap. As soon as I give the motor a major tune up, I plan to swap out the fuel injection. For those of you who take interest in four doors. I was at my local junkyard about a week ago and I came across two 4dr EX's. Pretty fxxking cool! They were almost complete, one had a d15b (89) and the other a d16y6 (90/91) Anyways one even had its ECU in tact, it wasn't even a PM ECU, it something else I wonder if you could use those for the MPFI swaps..or if they would work better (fuel wise) with the four doors as a pose to Si ECUs?

Re: Civic Hatch Doors & Valves???
Valve adjustment is pretty easy if you have the correct tools(feeler gauge, 10mm wrench, flat screwdriver) You should replace the valve cover gasket, rubber grommets, & spark tube seals. Apply silicone/honda bond on the new valve cover gasket - small dab @ 4 corners of the cam opening. Adjust the valves when the engine cool & DO NOT over tighten any thing.
For the seatbelt, try Honda first. Bring it in the service drive & show them it's not working. If they agree, a new seatbelt will be ordered & installed for FREE do to the lifetime warranty - does not apply to belts that were removed or tampered with. In case you don't have a factory repair manual - http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...alve_train.htm - valve adjustment |
