Integra vs. Mustang
I have a stock right hand drive JDM '90 Integra XSi. this is one fast mother. I live in the great smoky mts of tennessee, and north carolina. up in the mountians there are several twisty rolling roads, a great spot to race. nothing better than a addrentaline rush on a ridge of a Mountian road while burying your 160kmh speedometer @ 180kmh ( about 110mph for you non-metric types). smacking the 9380rpm spoon sports ECU revlimiter at every shift. but anyway on with the story. I pull up next to a salene mustang (very popular in this aera) and intending to get beat. I rev the motor just for some fun. the salene takes off without as much as a chirp in the tires. he accelerates so fasty, he becomes a tiny spec to me. then we come up to the twisty part where you come down the cliff in theNC side of the mountian he appears. As I close in on him quickly around the turns @ about 100km, with so much body roll you feel you are going to flip. I pas him doing about 20km faster than he is going.and continuing down the road manuvering everything that posed a threat to my car. down on the next strait I check my rearview mirror toped out @ about 200kmh smacked the revlimiter in 5th and never saw him again. How I beat him Ill never know, but now I feel I'm pretty invincible. I even had a friend who was w/ me print print up a sticker that said "Your V-8 can't touch my sweet Honda Integra XSi....." and placed it on my back window without me knowing...lol... I just thought I would share that with you guys to see what you thought. Do you think the guy was just a crappy driver or do you think I'm a good driver, or do you think the integra has that much of a advantage in the cornors.
Your V-8 can't touch my sweet Honda Integra XSi..... |

maybe i'm just having a brain lapse, but I thought the integra xsi was a jdm all wheel drive integra, that is very rare, and very under powered? it only lasted a few years because of its weak performance? but you are saying that yours is stock yet it is apparently pretty powerful?
I am NOT callin BS I probly just got the letters screwed up, so if not xsi what is the one that I'm thinking of?

Re: Integra vs. Mustang
Was he even racing? To me racing on mountain roads is asking for trouble. If I can't see what's ahead of me, forget about it. Not worth the chance, even if it's a small one, of wrecking my car...

To be honest, it is crap, IMO. Of all the JDM b16's to purchase, the one from the XSi is the last one you should buy. It has the shittiest gearing of all the b16's stock, only had the lower-power b16 (160HP), and never came with LSD, unless it was dealer-installed in Japan. My old 1990 Integra would have dusted an XSi, stock motor to stock motor, considering it had a genII b16 with 170HP stock, and an LSD transmission...and that car would be hard-pressed to beat any legit Saleen in the twisties, with all that 'Teg's suspension upgrades, since even the Saleens without power-adders get a suspension upgrade. I won't even think about racing one in a straight-line, even though my old car was a proven mid/high-14 car. So, unless he was racing a "Faleen", with a V6, I HIGHLY doubt this story. In other words...BullShit. EDIT: Here's some info about the XSi: An owner's page Listing of b16 specs Notice how the XSi b16 is the lowest-rated XSi specs

Re: Integra vs. Mustang
Carrnut, your alright for a Nissan guy man (jk)....I was going to put out the b.s. alert and mention that the Saleen might be the V-6 version but I still wouldn't necessarily buy the kill story. Good call

Carrrnuttt, you're the man.
anyway do you happen to know what integra I was talkin about? I really can't remember what it was, and its buggin the sh#@ outta me now. there was a thread it was mentioned in awhile back but I can't seem to find it. something about some guy who wanted to try and make a awd teg, but everybody told him honda already tried it and it was a flop. and back to the thread at hand, I have a 93 gs-r with same hp as what this guy was claiming only slightly lower redline, and i'm almost positive my gearing is better than his, and I know a guy in town with a saleen s281 ( for you non saleen followers thats the "slow" one ) and anyway i always fuck with him just to hear and see him floor it to put me in my place, there is no way my car would even be able to tail him... so i found this thread a little odd.and by the way hondaintegraxsi you claim to be stock in this thread but in others you claim to have a few things done to your car that I would not consider stock? how can you contradict yourself like that????

Only sold in Japan, EVER, and was (under) powered by a DOHC ZC motor with 127HP. It also only came in automatic and 4-dr...no wonder it died-off. I could only wish Honda had decided to improve the line. It was also ONLY in the DC2 models, as none of the DA Integra ZXi's were ever AWD.
