I have a '97 Bravada w/ 98,000milesonit.It has started idling very erractically, with the engine even stalling sometimes. The "service engine light" comes on sometimes also. Has anyone else experienced this? Fixes for the problem?
Thanks |

Re: Idling problem
You need to get the SES light checked out. I've seen a bad E.G.R. valve do this but its an expensive guess.

Re: Idling problem
My '94 Bravada did the same thing: it needed the EGR valve cleaned. I also had the EGR valve gasket replaced with one that has a stainless-steel screen, which should keep carbon particles out and the engine idling smoothly. By the way, if the EGR valve is clogged open, you will lose your power brake booster, since there is, in effect, one huge vacuum leak. DON'T just clean the valve, get one of the screened gaskets -- the 4.3L engine is famous for its carbon buildup.

Just wanted to know where you can purchase the screened egr gasket?
I have a 95 Blazer with the same issues, could not locate one. |

Thanks for the link. I have already emailed them to see if there is a local distributor.
