1990 chrysler new yorker shifter problems.
My parents have a 90 chrsler new yorker.
My mom just called me and said they had to leave the car at our local mall because my Dad had trouble shifting the car into park. I am guessing that he kept messing with it and broke something. So I have 2 problems: What casued the car to be hard shifting at the column and what might be broken due to the column shifter being forced? The shifter is loose and will not shift the car into park or any of the other gears. I think the shifter cable or some linkage is broken. Does anyone know what might have happened and how I might fix it? Thanks Kevin |

Re: 1990 chrysler new yorker shifter problems.
Hey Thanks...
That was only part of their problem... Their windshield is leaking somewhere... and water is getting under the dash... We had to replace the cable and in doing so we found that water had gotten into the cable sleeve and froze. So its fixed now, but It was a pain. I had no idea ice was the reason that the cable would not move. |
