96 rodeo electrical problems

Can anybody help me out with my electricl problems, I was trying to install a cd player and it blew some fuses, I replaced the fuses but now I don not have any panel lights and all my other instrumental lights in the car doesnt work either and my factory stereo will not work unless I turn on my headlights first. I was wanting to know if possibly I shorted something out or if its a bad relay. Please help..its driving me mad. Thanks

Re: 96 rodeo electrical problems

Did you put the factory stereo back in?, or was it left in and you were putting another deck in along with it?

hard to diagnose electrical problems without being there to look at it. start by checking if the deck has constant power, moreover, is the correct power wire connected to the stereos constant power. then start checking each wire to see if it is correct

check here for wire colours http://www.autotoys.com/New_Tech/Wir...ire_colors.htm
unless the harness has been tampered with before. in which case the job becomes more tedious

as for panel lights: same type of trouble shooting inspect wires and bulbs and check relays. make sure the fuses don't keep blowing on you after they are changed.

good luck... I hate electrical problems

you may want to check all fuses dont just look at them test them make sure they are good and not only the ones inside the vehicle but out in the PDC also

Yes, I did put the factory stero back in. Thanks for the info and the wire colors, I will be sure and do that. I hate electrical problems too, I am doing good just learning the vehicle componenets itself, much less to get into detail with the wiring system

I'm still working on getting High speed at the new house. (smaller community, and for some reason it takes a month to get a DSL hook up ) As soon as I do I'll try to scan the wiring diagrams you need and post them.

I let you know when I do.

If or when you get the diagram off my site let me know so I can take it out of there. It kinda sticks out like a sore thumb

Hope it helps!
