Toyota Supra

I've narrowed my next model down to doing the Toyota Supra (TFATF). I'm going to attempt a drift machine, but wondering if you guys have any ideas for what colors, mods, body kits, etc. Anything I can do to make it better. I was thinking Metallic Silver with Black & Blue Pearl accents (Graphics, Flames, some design etC)

So, gimme your ideas!

First and foremost, I'd recommend not starting with that kit. It's workable, but there's no stock body option and most of the custom bodywork is molded to the body.

The Tamiya Supra is infinitely preferable.

But, in any case, if you're going the drift route then you'll want to scratchbuild larger sway bars, swap in bigger, better detailed disc brakes and do some custom struts (probably in TEIN or Ohlins colors). Also, good wheels are lightweight 17" or 18" ones like RS Watanabes, Volk TE37's, SSR MeshII's, or BBS RG's. Be sure to scuff up the rear tread face with sandpaper and files a lot to replicate all the sliding around you've done. Bonus points if your rear wheels are different from your fronts.

Then you'd want to start stripping out the interior. Gut the dash so that all you've got are the essential gauges; tachometer, boost gauge, speedometer, temp gauge, and oil pressure. Radio? Scrap it. Sand away the carpeting engraving so that your floor looks like the bare metal, and only leave a portion of the floor console intact; the bits around the shifter. The rest is just excess weight. Drifters don't have a lot of money, so you can only afford one racing seat and harness. The passenger seat you swipe out of an old Trueno or Cressida, since it's lighter than that power everything Supra seat. Since you grabbed it from the boneyard, it should be a little dirty and probably torn. Finally, a six point roll cage. You need this and a fire extinguisher, or else they don't let you on the track.

Engine wise, well, don't do too much there. You should do a larger, freer flowing exhaust system without a catalytic converter. Makes for spectacular off throttle fireballs. Things are a little greasy under there, though, so no sense in chroming anything.

Finally, the body. Stock, save for getting rid of the wing. Add some cracks in the rocker panels and nicks and scrapes in the bumpers to replicate where the car bounced off walls or smacked curbs.

Do this and you'll have a real drift machine.

what layla said! o and don't forget to make the body flat black or a flat color as they paint it themselves when getting new used metal to replace that dented piece!

Thanks for the tips. First though, no flat colors...this isnt gonna be a ghetto drifter. Next, points for different rims on the back? One racing harness will be enough, passengers are just extra weight : right? Any pictures or links to any good aftermarket rims I could use for this? Otherwise I'll have to steal some off a different model. Thanks again, keep the tips comin'
