it seems to happen when it is really cold outside and i go to start my car in the morning. it makes this horrible squeeling noise. i thought it might be the belts but i'm not sure. does anyone have any sugestions on to what it might be and what i can do to stop it from happening?

It is your belts. How long has it been sense they were changed? YOu might want to change them if they are old or get some belt dressing if they are not very old. You need to make sure they are in good shape though, just get a light and look at the underside (part with the ribbs) of the belt and see if you see any cracking, if so they need to be replaced. They could also be loose too. Check them out or take it to a shop if you don't know how.
