I know where I can get an NPR with a blown motor for scrap price. I have seen it from a distance and appears to be in decent condition otherwise. I know the 3.9 diesels are expensive and that they are also available with Chevy 350 motors. Does anyone know what is involved with a changeover? Is it worth it?

You may spend less by replacing the diesel eng. and you will enjoy the truck more. Find out what else it needs.

Thank you for your reply, although that was an evasive answer to my question. I love diesels as much as anybody but I don't think I can afford the price of a replacement diesel motor. Chevy 350s are a whole lot cheaper than $4000. Show me a good replacement motor for a grand and I will do it. Besides, this whole thing is an experiment. If the truck operates the way I want it to, I will invest in a new.newer chassis.
Thanks Daryl |
