actually as far as i remember is more common for it to be an auto but who know, just wait for the guy to email you back and you will find out...
and when you go and look at it, find out if it has had any engine problems, if i were you i would go on car fax since he the vin # is right on the page and look up the car, i believe that will even tell you if its a stick but i am not sure... good luck, looks nice! |

Re: about to buy this gsx....
Do you have a trusted mechanic? You might think about paying someone who knows about cars to check this out. Someone did that to a car I was selling one time and honestly they found all kinds of things. It was a $1500 truck so ... Sounds like it would be a good reliable vehicle. Timing belts were changed. Do they have reciepts for the work they've done. Clutch work? How are the brakes? Then there's crankwalk. I don't understand how this starts but it ruins engines and you can locate it if it is there by a simple measurement. In the past when I have bought cars- most were high milage, older vehicles- I knew when I talked to the sellers whether or not they took care of it. Good luck.

isn't crankwalk'n only common on the 2g DSM cars...i thought 1g had valve seal problems and timing belt problems but im not positive on this information can anyone post if that is wrong or not juss my thougts....
when look'n at the car check turbo make sure no oil leaks into intercooler pipe takes 2 seconds to check...than when ur running the car let the car run for like 15 minutes after it is warm'd up than drive the car...because there might be white smoke coming from the exhause...this could be due to Valve seals or turbo oil leak...also another thing to check is make sure the car don't burn oil...take ur finger and rub the inside of the tailpipe...if it has an oil feel to the grim than most likely the car burns oil...this is all little problems that the car might have but passing inspection will be a bitch and later on you might have more problems....of course check all the stupid little things too like windows doors...speakers...unless you don't care about any of that, juss remember stay calm and don't rush u need to take ur time buying a car is a big thing

Re: about to buy this gsx....
Kaleco- It is more often a problem on 2gs which have the 7 bolt engine. I believe some 93 and 94 engines also were 7 bolt. His 97 most likely has the 7 bolt motor. It seems to be rare and I've never personally had this problem. Can you start a post explaining what timing belt issues are you talking about on 1gs?

It is most likely a manual (I THINK), if you look at the engine picture you can see the little white reservoir (all the way in the upper right corner), that is the clutch fluid.
The car looks real nice.
