Question about headers?

Hey guys, (and girls)

I bought these headers today on Ebay for my brother for Christmas.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ory=33631&rd=1

He drives a 2000 Civic EX. I was hoping you could provide some insight as to how much of a gain he might be able to get from these. I know the ad says up to 15hp, but I also know that the guy will tell me what he needs to in order to get the sale.

Please only provide honest opinions. I am no stranger to modifying cars, but all my work has been with domestics, so I am not familiar with how his civic will respond.

Please, no "ricer" answers of like 30-50hp. I know damn well he won't get that much. I know that many of you import drivers are not "ricers" and that is why I feel comfortable asking for information on here. I was thinking it would be like 8-10 horses, but I didn't know for sure. Also, would he lose any low end torque due to issues with decreased back-pressure?

He has the SOHC engine and it is completely stock as far as performance goes. I think he plans to put a full exhaust and an intake on at some point soon, but he'll have to do that on his own, because I can't afford that much shit...

Any comments on the headers would be great...

Thanks all...

-Garrett

Re: Question about headers?

An inline 4 cylinder has one(single) cylinder head, meaning has only a header.

With a header alone you'll be lucky to gain 1-5HP. For a header to work properly you need an Intake & exhaust at least. A slight built of low-end torque will be lost, but Honda engine are not made to make low-end power.

Thanks for the info bud, and yes, sorry, I mean header singular. So used to working on v8's that I just add the "s" on the end without thinkin bout it.

Interesting. Ive seen these on ebay plenty of times but can someone vouch for its DC style design. Me personally, i have and still will spend $235 on the real DCs, cause i strongly believe in "you pay for what you get," but i would like to hear some feedback about these DC replicas.
