I Want To Move Out of America so I can Have a Skyline

I am so sick of U.S. protectionism and bullshit government crap,

Mabye I should move to timbuktu so I can trade in my '04 350Z (which is an awesome car BTW) for a GTR 34 that hasn't been wanked with a $30,000 markup

Sorry, no profound message here, just frustration

or you could just check out the prices at skylinegtr.com / motorex.net

R32's can go for as low as 18,000....sure it'll be a 1990 and it'll be RWD, but it's better than nothing.....if you're worried about the prices, then saveup

I live in Japan and the only thing that makes Americans want Skylines so bad is that they're not sold in the states. They're very fast but not as fast as American import junkies put them up to be. My supervisor bought an R32 GTST for 1500 bucks. They same one motorex sells for 16,000.

Outside of Japan we have the highest concintration of skylines in the world.

Think about New Zealand if your serious.

Re: I Want To Move Out of America so I can Have a Skyline

In the Newspaper today I saw 2 skylines for sale 92 GT-R full power whatever that means and a 95 GTS-T. The GT-R runs high 8s and low 9s.
THEY BOTH COST 17,000 Each!!!
I asked the owner and he said that the GT-R is illegal so he just uses it for drags and told me there something wrong with the car that he can't fix it, so hes selling it, i don't know about the GTS-T.
you guys think thats a good price anyways i can't ship it to the states cause is illegal. i live on guam a us territory and skyline are illegal here, but the guy said "its not what you know its who you know"

so im guessin he bribed people to get the skyline here without all that expensive tuning shit

Feel your pain, or at least remember it. then i moved to russia. no protectionism here, at least not on buying gtrs. my old datsun buddy from the states is planning a trip here just to drive a few of them. well, he's planning to drink a lot too, with me, and with some hot chicks. and fly in a mig too!

but, driving gtr's is definitely PART of the motivation.

Absolutely. And they're cheaper to buy over here than they are in Australia.

I guess I'm just a little grumpy and spoiled, like most people who live in America (actually Canadian though), but the R34 is the only one I would really consider.

Just the idea that you can get one here but it will cost 90K, not because that's what the manufacturer sells it for, but what the only company that can import it (MONOPOLY) charges really "torques my weenie", so to speak...

It's not just because it's unavailable here (although that obviously does increase the "wanna" factor), it's that it is truly a performance vehicle, built to spank the road, that if it were imported to the U.S., would easily give the USD $147,000 Twin Turbo Porsche 911 a run....(I do admit that mass importation would diminish it's unique character and, therefore, it's desirability).

I could afford a MotoRex R34 right now but the lack of follow-up support for the vehicle just makes me feel leery (is that how you spell it?) of the whole operation...too risky!

Additionally, I find it hard to believe that the differences in crash standards between Japan and the U.S. are that substantial. The amount of research and modification required of MotoRex in order to make their vehicles comply can hardly be anything more than minor, otherwise they themselves would never have been able to afford it in the first place. Certainly not worthy of a $30,000-$40,000 mark-up on each vehicle sold, they are not curing cancer.....I understand that this is capitalism and they have every right to charge outrageous prices for their desirable merchandise...but that doesn't mean I can't feel somewhat cheated when I see videos of Australian and Japanese kids tooling around town in GT-Rs and having a blast...(I know, we here feel entitled to everything).

So how about a $50-60K GT-R, out of the hands of the ricers, but a resonable price for such a high-performance vehicle...sold in the U.S. by the manufacturer (NISSAN) and supported appropriately? Mabye someday, I wonder if the new one everyone's talking about is going to compare to these legendary vehicles...

Re: I Want To Move Out of America so I can Have a Skyline

Recently I'd seen a bayside blue R34 GTR 2000 model for sale here for $78,000 NZD or about $49,000 USD.

I hate to burst your bubble but Australia has been targetted as well. Besides if your after a skyline well again prices are 30% higher there than in good ol little NZ. Not to mention abundance of tuners for these cars.
