Re: Has anybody actually fixed the erratic fuel gauge?

My fuel guage on 97 blazer quit some time ago. Chevy garage said it was sending unit, wanted $900 to fix. I haven't found a parts store that carries the sending unit. Has anyone found a source other than GM to buy new sending unit. Is this my problem or could it be something else?

ok i've had the exact same problem on my 97. the pump and sending unit come together as one unit. the unit fits inside the tank and is accessable after lowering the tank. caution!!! the lines plug into the pump at the top of the tank. lower the tank about 12" be sure to unplug all the lines and electrical connection.then lower the tank on down remove the lock ring turn the pump assembly to the noches. it comes out as a complete unit. i obtained a new unit from NAPA for 300.00.
