Talking First firbird

Hello every one I just bought my first fire bird its a 86 with the 305 and duel exaust its really clean I got it from school I go to automotive school BTW and has a rebuild motor and carb I was just wondering if anyone can answer a few questions for me

First I noticed that the bumper says Trans am did they make a T/a in 86 with the 305 motor???

the hood also has the little fins or hood fin scoops I don't know what they are called?

and can any one tell what are some first mods I can do to the motor to get the performence up

Thanks for any input

Re: First firbird

Congrats on your firechicken

as for your 1st question I dont know. I figure they wouldn't prolly a replacement part.

Cowl induction is what that other sounds like.

Best performance is to save your pennies and get a 350.

Re: First firbird

No prob bro

for 600 smacks its a good deal.

iif ts your first one great way to learn how to piece it together.
I had a 92 firchicken with 305 loved the car.
I wish I had it here but cant have everything.

So its not a waste by any means bro just a great starting point.

you can hop up this 305 with out too much worry 90% of the parts will bolt on a 350.
Just dont be silly and stroke and bore and all that crap by the time your done its a 350..LOL

Re: First firbird

that is a great deal and yes they did make an 86 trans am with a 305 its not a waste 305 is a good V8 with good power especailly if it is rebuilt but youll want to go to a 350 because it is faster and if your going to mechanic school you can do whatever you want to your car as long as you buy parts all you have to do it get a 350 block and rebuild it as as money comes in if your patient you can save money and make badass motor
