DRL or auto headlights?

I'm trying to make it so the only way to turn on my headlights is to use the switch. i've tried the whole resistor-in-place-of-the-sensor thing. my RPO code says that i have DRL and i have all the relays in my fuse block, but they don't come on until i let out the parking brake. my truck is a 98 4-cyl 5spd, and the lights that come on are my low beams.

thanks for any replies,
-kyle

Re: DRL or auto headlights?

to turn off drl you need to bend a prong in the fuse pannel under the hood, ill go look when i get a moment and tell you the location and tab number, the resistor in dash turns off the automatic night time lights

Dude does your truck have the little round button under the headlight
nob. IF it does you should turn on the switch as you were going to start it but just turn were gauges and stuff come on and push the button 4 times in a 8 to 10 second span.then you here the buzzer like you left your lights on then it should be on manual. you can turn them on and off
Ok if dash doesnt have the little button by the way the button is the one for the dome light off or on but not the one that rolls that you can dim your dash lights with but the one that if you have the door open and the lights are on you push to turn off.If there is no button then you should have a fuse for drl thats in the fuse box on driver side at end of dash close to the door .if these things dont work just look in owners manual

Hey dude sorry it took so long to get back at you I have been with my son today.Yes the override button that is excactly what mine is in my 2000 s-10 blazer.First just start your engine let it idle, then simply push
the override button 4 times real fast and the ding noise will sound maybe a couple times.the noise that sounds like you left your lights on.
Did you check to see if you had a fuse in the panel.Does your truck have the small senser on the passenger side on the speaker cover on the dash.
