My choice is made.....I think :)

I've been toiling over the new motor for weeks now...do I want to go real different and drop a B16B in the car? Do I want radical and do a ITR JDM motor and LSD tranny? or....I think I'll just drop the B16A1 motor in and with the 2,000 in saving I'll mod the crap out of it I figure the B16A has 160hp....the ITR motor has 200+ HP... and the price diff is about 3,000....so, I'm sure I can pull 40 HP out of 3k dollars can you say...TURBO?

First gen b16a swap and then mod the heck out of it. That would be my choice.

On another note:

I am selling my ZC to shawn also known as sastanley on this board. I am going the same route as you are with the b16 except I am not going to have any money left to mod the motor after I am done. Oh well but 160 hp and 111 lb-ft is not too bad, especially in my grocery getter.

The B16A bolts right up, so it's the easiest to drop in. It's also the cheapest and least sensitive of the three (both the B16B and B18C5 are type R's and are precisely put together for so much N/A power ), so it's less likely to go boom. AND if it does go boom, it's gonna be cheaper to fix since there are about 50 times as many of them around!

Have fun mate, be sure to post some 1/4 mile and dyno sheets... not to mention pix!

Oh yeah, that was my $0.02 btw :hehe:

LOL...thanks for the input guys

as for WHY? nothing was wrong with my current setup...that's the problem! I'm not happy unless i'm tearing the car apart...I think I have more fun with it stripped than actually driving it The ZC I have/had ran awesome! was in perfect condition, painted chromalusion valve cover and all....but you know...to be able to get 30+ more stock HP....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...nuff said

Been following your exploits from the single cam all motor "original" 13secondcivic, to the turbo'ed ZC... and onto the B16A... All I can say is... you're most welcome, it's been great looking at your projects!

Looks like you're going to have to change your signature from "coming soon: ITR powered" to something like "coming soon: Blown B16A "

I'm just happy my $0.02 was agreed with by someone such as yourself! :apoke: :apuke:

Really the only way to make money with out spending TONS of money is a turbo.. so i'd go with a b16 (Or b18) and turbo it.. but make sure to get a good turbo..

Cool

Well Mr. Vince-tweaker....heh heh...
I picked the b16a, since I agree with somone else's point that you won't be able to squeeze much more HPs out of the CTR or ITR motors...I think you'd get bored with them, quicker than you did the turbo ZC - lol
Oh, and one more thing - Can I bring my car out to you on a trailer so you can give it as good a paint job as the one on your car? Damn you keep that thing pristine!!!

lol...i'm confused an to the reason you can't get more out of an ITR or CTR motor? what's the diff between that and a ZC? add a turbo dammit!

as for paint....heck, as long as your willing to leave it hear for...oh...several months, sure and my car is all original....I haven't painted it, yet

The reason turboing a b16b or a b18c5 is a dumb idea.... well, both those engines are made to be N/A, hence the high compression....

If you're gonna turbo, why not go b18c1 or b16a?

Hell... b18a/b or b20b/z are turbo monsters........

yes but since the itr motor has a higher compression then lets say a gsr or b16 in order to turbo a itr engine you would have to lower the compression to keep it from detonating. when you lower the compression you now have a gsr motor so with that in mind you spend 5k on the itr motor
whatever for install
whatever for lowering compresion
and then turbo

you could have saved all that and bought a gsr motor and with all the money left over you could have slapped a trubo on that for less that what the other would cost. i hate itr engines.
