S2000 progress - Sakatsu / SAS

I'm currently (and very slowly due to class and work) building an S2000 with the SAS body kit, hood, and roof save for the front bumper. I'm going to detail it with the Sakatsu PE set and various other parts that I find for it. It's also going to be a full detail model, and will be fitted with the Sakatsu white metal kit. This kit is gorgeous, and relatively easy to assemble. I'd hope so, since it cost twice as much as the Tamiya kit! but seriously, I am amazed by it and wanted to show you guys how it turned out. If you're thinking about building an S2000, the Sakatsu motor is the only way to go!

Edit - except for the surpentine belt, the engine is completely stock to how it came out of the blister. I've yet to wire it and add the vacuum hoses and what not. That'll give you an idea of how nice this thing is.

You should ask our friend from SAS what he thinks about that.

No, I wouldn't do it to Chris.
But because this engine is sold at such a RIDICULOUS price IMHO I would do it, with a few modification so that I wouldn't get in trouble.

Maybe turbo charge it, change a little of the appearance, and leave the option of keaping it stock.

I guess it would be allowed,or more right, if you did some mods to it.

Re: Re: Re: S2000 progress - Sakatsu motor

I understand but when you start making money off other peoples work it kind of sucks.

Anyway I'm not the plastic police and it's not like I'm losing sleep over this .

EDIT : BTW, the engine looks really nice.

I shouldn't tell ya'll where I got it since I like it so much I want another to display on its own... and if I know you guys, ya'll'll snap them all up and when I go get the second one, it'll be sold out...

But I got it at www.RacingResin.com. They have some Sakatsu stuff, and all sorts of really cool and expensive resin kits. Friendly and pretty quick, too.

Well there goes my hope of getting engine #2....

Expensive ? No way.
Ask yourself, how long do you need to earn $40? If you work at $5 per hour, you only need 8 hours. Now, can you scratchbuild the engine in only 8 hours? Do you even have skills? How about $150 resin kit? Scratchbuilding a decent model in 30 hours is almost impossible.

See my point? Money buys you goods and service, you can't provide yourself.

I'm sure the friend at SAS knows the value he asks in a form of money, and why he wouldn't copy someone else's.
