Big Thanks. |

Re: EGR Solenoid
The primary job of the EGR is to lower combustion chamber temps thus lowereing NOX (tailpipe emission).
If your egr is not functional comb temps go up which may cause pre-ignition or detonation (pinging). Serious detonation can destroy spark plugs and even melt a hole in a piston in extreme cases. Should have it looked at and fixed. Goodluck! |

I will have a look on Mitchell On Demand tomorrow and see if I find where the solenoid is located for you. Until then hang in there. If you can locate the egr valve and if it's vacuum controlled there should be a vacuum line from the valve to the control solenoid in question.

Re: EGR Solenoid
Sorry for getting back so late there dude but Mitchell does not indicate where the solenoid is. What I would do is trace the vacuum line from the valve. From the valve it goes to a vacuum transducer, a small circular shaped apparatus, then from there it will go to the egr solenoid, probably a 2 wire connection at the solenoid. The same solenoid also controls cannister purge from the fuel tank. My best guess it would be around the throttle body somewhere, but you gotta trace the hose from the egr transducer and see where the single hose goes to. This will be the solenoid....dealer part only and might be a wee bit $$$. Goodluck and sorry for the wait.
