I want to convert my drum brakes to disc brakes by not using a conversion kit (can't afford to) and I was wondering if anyone has done this or something similar before. I was also wondering how closely the skylark resembles a chevelle of the same year. I would you just like general help in starting this project. Thanks.

same year chevelles should be the same parts as the Skylark/GS. Good way to check is call an auto parts store and see if the part # is the same for the calipers/rotors/pads. If they are they you're set.
I know that the parts were the same when I swapped my 72 GS drums to Disk. |

you mean check to see if the part numbers match for the drums and shoes first to see if those are the same as a chevelle's, right?

Year One lists the same Rotor for the Chevelle and Buick as of 67.... Nothing for the 66. I also struck out at various automotive parts websites.... I'm beginning to think you're out of luck on a cheap conversion.
There are more guys on this site that might know of what's interchangeable for your 66. Try posting here: Http://www.V8buick.com I didn't see anything about disk brake conversions for the 66 when I searched their site, but you can post your own question like you did here. Good Luck. |
