take a look inside!!
i pulled off the intake manifold tuning assembly and took a long hard look inside. things were wet and fuel pres. reg. side was about half gold and half carbon, no puddels of gas. i had the cpi replaced 18 months ago and have noticed rich odor and rough idle. cleaned the egr, boy did that make a big difference on idle, but odor and some roughness still remain. my question- can i have someone turn engine over while i look inside the tuning assem. hole in plenum? perhaps i can see vapors if i have a problem there, or do i have to pull the plenum? know i aint the only one ever looking for a short cut on this. i dont want fire to the plugs if i do this so do i ground coil wire that goes to dist. top or will this screw up electronic ign. somehow? i know what i would of done 30yrs. ago but those days are gone now. any ideas? thanks to all. you too merlin, learned more in two paragraph about ses than i have in two yrs.wish i had your experience. you must really enjoy what you do. thats good.

all you have to do is turn the ignition to run, no need to start it. if the fuel pressure regulator is leaking, it will leak after the fuel pump primes up.
you could also use a fuel pressure gauge. 58-64psi with key on, engine not running. start engine and it should drop 3-10 psi. with it running. |
