get stock Si sway bars or wait and get better ones?
I have a STD which has no sway bars at all. Obviously getting stock Si sway bars will be a lot cheaper than buying a good aftermarket set. I'm wondering if it will be worth it for my car to buy the stock sway bars, or just wait until I have more money for the good stuff.

In my humble opinion (which dont mean much), i would get the Si sway's and save the rest of the money to use for other mods like engine parts.
btw, if you have any trouble locating them, holler at me, as i have extra front and rear sways.. |

I've had an Si rear sway sitting around forever! The only problem with that is if you have a non-Si (assuming you do, or you wouldn't be asking about putting one one), you'll need the Si LCAs so you can mount the rear sway.

LCA? Is that lower control arms, dont really know what those are anyway. So how much would that be, and how difficult is it to get Si bars on an STD? And with aftermarked bars, would I sill need to get LCAs?

Re: get stock Si sway bars or wait and get better ones?
I wouldn't bother with the Si sways since they are so small & hardly do a thing, yes its better than no bar at. I have a Si rear sway & lower control arms laying around. I was planning on installing poly bushings then selling the whole thing(LCA's rear sway, brackets). Go with the Suspension tech sways(pretty cheap for front/rear) & you don't need special control arms since the sway mounts to the lower shock mounts(as seen in my gallery)
The rear matters more than front!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sway bars are pretty easy to install/change unless some custom work has to be done. |

Suspension Technique were the other bars I was looking at. I guess now I will probably just wait and get those ones, it seems a lot easier to intall and will have better performance than the Si bars.

Re: Re: get stock Si sway bars or wait and get better ones?
The only reason I chose the Si rear sway over the ST is the fact that Si rear sway bars can be had for like $30 or so, whereas a newer thicker bar is a lot more expensive and most likley a lot more than nessicary. (Since I'm not a road racer or anything, I just enjoy decent handling)

Ya, same with me, I'm just looking to get better handling, I dont race either. Im not sure what I will do now, I'll have too see how much these bars go for on ebay. How much are the rear LCAs? I know rear bars are more important in fron, so does anybody have just a rear bar on their car or does everybody do them in pairs?

Re: get stock Si sway bars or wait and get better ones?
I bought the ST bars & had them both installed for a while. There was too much understeer so I re-installed the stock front sway with upgraded bushings & end links. If your looking for "better" handling get the larger bar, another good thing about the ST rear bar is the adjustments. Trust me you can feel the difference between the settings.
Make me an offer for my rear sway & LCA's - will upgrade LCA bushing w/ Energy Suspension bushings for an additional amount if wanted. |

so the people with Stnd. hatches or non-SI hatches would have to use the control arms from the SI to install the rear sway?

Re: get stock Si sway bars or wait and get better ones?
If using Si or aftermarket rear sway bar that mounts to the stock location, you will need Si LCA's. The Suspension Tech. rear bar mounts to the lower strut mounts, so LCA's won't matter. Since the ST bar mounts closer to the tires than Si bar(not mentioning size) it improves handling by greater roll control.

So jackasssi, you have the ST bar on the rear and the stock on the front right now? I looked around quick and didnt see anybody selling the rears speperately, do they? I didnt look hard though, but I will later.
