Question rwhp on a V6 96 firebird

does anyone know how much power goes to the wheels of a V6 firebird??? I know BHP is around 200 hp, but what about it's rwhp??? I test drove a firebird and it doesn't feel that fast so I'm just wondering if it's just the condition of the engine, or what.

what year, engine and tranny if it is a 3.8L it is 200hp at flywheel, if you have an auto tranny subtract 10%-20% of 200 and that is a good starting range, if it is a stick shift it is almost the same hp as bhp maybe minus 5hp at the most. it must be nice to have a 3.8, i have a 1989 2.8L V6 firebird that is putting out about 150 at flywheel but probaly 120-135hp at wheels.

Re: rwhp on a V6 96 firebird

For an auto, it's about 20% drivetrain loss, while for a manual, it's generally accepted as a 15% loss for F-bodies...

Manuals have less drivetrain loss, which equals slightly more horsepower to the wheels...

yeah it's an auto, 3.8 L. It's actually a 1995 special edition one, uses the same 3.8l engine of the 1996 firebird.

Re: rwhp on a V6 96 firebird

There's nothing really special about the 95's with 3.8's, no special editions there. They just switched the engine in the middle of the year. The later Camaros produced recieved the 3.8's. My 95 had a 3.4 in it...
