Not bad looking vehicles, considering the years they were made. I've never ever heard of them before... Thanks for the site.

I suppose it is good for its time, the convertible actually looks quite good. odd name though, "Bitter"? why would you want to associate it with a bad taste?

I've been a bit interested for a while in the Bitter CD from the 1970's; the V-8 powered one.

Haven't found a whole lot on it, either they stuffed in Chevy V8s or Opel built a version of the motor over there for their biggest cars, and Erich Bitter, IIRC, was an Opel dealer before becoming a car maker and his vehicles have been Opel-based. The car certainly looks good.

Alas, trying most search engines for "Bitter CD" results in a bunch of results about angry-kid music.

I don't recall any factory-built V8 Bitter cars. As far as I remember, they all had Opel inline-six engines.

Yeah, I don't think they made it to the US, like the later Bitter SC (Opel six) did in the 1980's. I've found a couple of photos on-line of the CD for my screen-saver, but that's about it. About the size and shape of an Iso Lele.

To my knowledge, there weren't any V8-powered Bitters...in the US or not.

Here you go; a couple of photos and if you click on the little spec sheet to enlarge it...

Like I said, "to my knowledge." You learn something new everyday if you do it right.

They seem to have produced 396 of these Bitter CDs.
