RWD + Rear Engine Wagon - Retrofit?

I'm a member of a Taurus Car club and I've been pondering a project that seems to be doable to me and would be an interesting sight to see.

I was interested in taking a Taurus wagon and retrofitting a (perhaps a 351 Windsor or so) in the rear of the car to drive a retrofited rear axle. The stock Taurus is of course front engine and front wheel drive, but it would seem to me that with some custom mounting pieces and some good welding work, this would be a doable project. With some window tint to hide the handy work, it would be an interesting sleeper at the track.
