Acura problems

I'm thinking of buying a 97 integra. I'm just wondering if there are any general problems with the integra. Not sure of the model, just curious if there are similar problems as with Hondas, which lose timing belts and water pumps at certain mileage. Any info would be helpful!!

Thanks!

You have to replace the timing belt and water pump at 90k miles or 72 months whichever comes first. But I believe it's common with most Honda's and probably a lot of other cars. If you're buying it used and it's already over 90k miles make sure you get some reciept showing that it's been done or get it done asap.

check the steering. honda/acuras are known for bad axle. their boots can be easily torn and the fluid to drip out. try making a kind of tight turning, (left while driving and do the same with right). make sure you don't hear any mechanical noise.

If you are planning on heavily modding your acura, do not go any newer than 97, cause those are odb2 and apparently more difficult to mod.

problems

Hi, I recently bought an Integra GSR. Just to list some of the problems I had with it. My vtec solenoid was leaking oil, had to get that replaced. Also, the cv joint had to be changed, coolant turned brown relatively quick so had to get radiator flushed. Clutch master cyclinder leaking, so had to get a new one. Clutch worn out, getting heavy duty clutch. But most importantly, get the timing belt checked, if that goes, say good bye to your engine..... also, get a major service done just to be on the safe side. Most are actually wear and tear things. Hope this helps.

Integra

There are problems with the Acura Integra. Ours blew two months ago, and Acura won't hold up the warranty. They say it was an act of God. We have the BBB fighting it now.

Re: Acura problems

well when i got my '95, i had to replace the axles, brake master cylinder, cam/cover seals, and ignition switch.

BUT, I think it was because the previous owners didn't take good care of it. acura parts are expensive.

My car runs fine now. overall, i would recommend acuras

-check the axles, paticularly the c/v boots. Honda's always turn too sharp and over time tear the rubber boots apart.

-check the timing belt! very importian!! needs to be replaced every 90k

-check over the electrical system. make sure everything works and none of the switches are broken

-check and make sure the a/c blows cold.

thats about it. take it for a test drive and beat the snot out of it.

I highly recomend Honda/Acura

i know u guys are trying to help...but look at the date.

this thread was over 2 months dead (u would have to scroll back a few pages to find this one), and the guy has ONE post and was last active that same day of his ONE post. i highly doubt he'll see this.

if u want to make a thread "Tips for buying a teg..." then sweet...but don't bring up old dead one's plz...thx.
