95 caravan transmission problem
I have recently acquired a 95 caravan with a 3.0L engine and an overdrive transmission. The vehicle has 360,000 kms (over 200,000 miles).
The transmission will not shift out of 2nd gear (limp mode). The overdrive light does not come on and the speedometer is not working. The output speed sensor has recently been replaced. Any ideas? What is the function of the turbine speed sensor? Thanks for all help. The problem seems to occur with the engine cold. Sometimes the van will drive normally for awhile and then it will shudder and drop into second gear. When this happens the speedometer stops working. It will also pick back up and drive normally after this has occurred. Perhaps it's possessed..... Last edited by help me please; 11-15-2003 at 10:15 AM. |

Re: 95 caravan transmission problem
There are 2 speed sensors, replace both and you should be good to go. Same thing happened to my 96. Dealer had them in stock about 30 bucks

Re: 95 caravan transmission problem
Hey, I'm thinking about getting a 95 Caravan with the 3.3 (I think) in it. It's got 179,??? miles on it but it seems to be in pretty good shape. Am I taking a huge risk on this van? I don't think so, but I just want a second opinion.

Re: 95 caravan transmission problem
wonderwalker, new question, new thread. i had a 95 caravan with the transmission problem too. i drove around in 1st gear for quite a while. kept me off the highway, and i went through a lot of gas. then the fan bearings went to crap, i was too lazy to fix it, and i warped the heads. the end.
