What do you guys collect of McLaren stuff?

I'm sure most of the people visiting this forum have some sort of collection related to the McLaren.
I myself mainly collect the models and pictures.

It would be fun to know what interests you as we could be of much help for eachother and maybe even share our passion for the same items more effectivly if we know a little about who's into what.
I would gladly help people in their search for stuff

I'm confident most of us has something that would please the majority of the forum!

Re: What do you guys collect of McLaren stuff?

I really want moremodels. Unfortunately, the only ones I dont have are the rather expensive ones, UTs, Minichamps etc. So I'm really looking for some UT 1:18's, especially the first edition/blue box.

I don't really have that much Mclaren stuff, mainly cause I'm already out of space in my room. I'm sure you all know, but what is a good quality 1:18 scale Mclaren model that I can buy that isn't ridiculously expensive. The more feedback you give will help out a lot.

The Maisto version of the F1 roadcar wont set you back as much as the UT models, as you can find one on eBay for about $40. Its pretty good quality even though it doesnt have any brakes at all and the rear lights are a bit goofy.

Just on the topic of model cars etc., can anyone tell me whether a GTR97 (black with ribbons) has been produced in scale form? To me that would the avant garde of my collection. Thanks

I've never seen it...

Maybe someone would have made a custom version of it, but it hasn't been released by any of the companies who make diecast replicas.

Did you know that the rear lights is alike the ones in early XP versions.....they are actually accurate

The Maisto is a good comprimise between the UT and Guiloy models.

However if someone wish to have the best and most accurate model it's clarely the ordinary F1 (LM & GT a bit off, but still GREAT) model from UT who rocks!

On the Maisto model, it has 2 lights on each side, but the inside ones are behind the rear grille. On the XP cars, there was just one light on each side, I do not believe the inside lights behind the grille feature was ever on any McLaren, thusly making the maisto model slightly incorrect. You can see here that there are only two lights on this XP vehicle:

Yup, pick out the lights behind the grille and voila' an XP rear

Hmmm..I will search my pics. to see if there was any of the F1's who had this rear arrangement.

Don't feel too glum. I got a late start on collecting. Fortunately I got a few good deals, but they are all gone. The people who charge that much for shipping should be hung and a few other things like and should happen to them. I wish no one would buy from those gougers. Hang in there with the collecting. I don't have a large budget for collecting, but I continue to grab one every chance I get.

The Dutch-built Carver. Saw one last month on the road, an "interesting" concept to say the least.

As an aside, am I correct in saying that these lights come from BOVA coaches?

Re: Re: What do you guys collect of McLaren stuff?

I only have ONE mclaren... a red 1/12th scale one.
Blew my money on that and don't have any more for the smaller ones.

I do 2 very interesting Mclaren souvinirs thou... a genuine wheel nut ftom the road car and the kick plate from the door sill.
My source had a contact in a garage that had a wrecked Mclaren once... but that's all i know.
The wheel nut makes a great paper weight and the kickplate is blu-tacked to my shelf.
