fuel cut off question and race story..

ok so i have my mbc turned up to 12.5psi. but i hit the fuel cut off some times is that safe or is that bad? my fuel cut off of my car is at 12psi. so when i race the car and the boost spikes a little and goes over 12psi i hit the fuel cut off and the car stumbles i let off the gass the car catches it self again and im off.. so is this safe or should i turn it down a little?

well this was my race last night. i encountered a 92 se-r dropped, nice exhaust and a intake, stage 2 clutch, and other mods new motor tho ooly 35k on the motor ( i know this b/c the car has a 4sale sign on and it listed mods) so he wasnt biting so i just took off then i see his head lights approach me fast. so he speeds past me so when he is about to pass me i floor it so hes is like 3 cars infront of me and i have to catch up we are at like 45-50mph by 70 i was on his bumper and still accelerating with him but i decided to end the race b/c we were on really public streets and way too much cops around that area.. so i didnt want a ticket or worse.. so i shut down at 70 but damm did i want to finish that race i say by 90 i would of had a car on him and he had a head start imagine if i launched and got im from the whole.. btw i can launch my car at about 10psi now hehehe..

well hopefull ill run into a se-r soon again they are soo common in nyc..

Re: fuel cut off question and race story..

umm in a NA car i dont think hitting the fuel cutoff would be a bad thing, but since your turboed and the turbo needs to spool down id say its a bad thing. Im not a turbo tech or anything, but if the fuel is cut off but the turbo is still spinning would you run the engine extremly lean for a few seconds?

I would say that's definetely a bad thing turbo2nr. Anytime you lean an engine out, force inducted or not, its BAD! You're going to burn a couple pistons if you're not careful.

Re: fuel cut off question and race story..

Get rid of it with a HKS fuel cut defencer or something. It can't be good. But it definately sounds annoying. Good call ending the race. Live to fight another day.

Re: fuel cut off question and race story..

buying something to get you past fuel cut is death to your engine. fuel cut is there for a reason. the only reason that would be a smart idea is if your engine is heavily modified. but spark plugs and exhaust dont fall into that category

your best bet would be to turn down the boost before you destroy something internal

i wont run my car past 15psi even though my fuel wont cut till 18 or so

probes are like Z31s when it comes too boost, it doesnt take alot of boost before it becomes overkill, so id say knock your boost down to 8-9 and i bet you will have the same performance as you do now without the cut

.my opinion.

Re: Re: fuel cut off question and race story..

i have to disagree with the z31 coment. the f2t motor is know to take well up to 18psi on stock internals, but the fuel system has to be modded, the stock fuel system is good for about 15psi saftly.. but i agree the fuel cut off must go im looking into a chip, it will re-map my ecu and let me run 15+psi with no problem and it will also tune my fuel curve to compensate for the added air of 15+psi.. but also im not constantly hitting my fuel cut off since i turned up the boost a little more to 12.5psi which i did on tuesday i only hit my fuel cut off twice once on the hi-way doing 80ish and the other when i tried launching the car it held the boost untill 12psi when i power break but if i dont let off at the right time i hit my fuel cut off.. but i will take your advice adn turn it down back to 11-12 psi..thanks again

Re: fuel cut off question and race story..

if your boost is spiking i would suggest getting a Apexi boost controller (electronic) it smooooths the boost curve out so its predictable and doesn't spike, that'll def. keep you from spiking into fuel cut they also boast no boost creep
