The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, true story or what?

Just saw the movie over the weekend and I thought it was fucking scary as hell. I never saw the original TCM so I'm not very filled in on the background of this movie. What parts of this movie are real? Anyone there give me a short paragraph or so describing the actual police case?

No, its not

That is a common misconception.

They took tidbits of crap that happened and used it for charecter basis and such.

Ed Gein was a serial killer that ate people, he was the basis for the charecters and the "eating people" deal.

I am a TCM fan I have read about it

Did he eat people too? I know he made all sorts of stuff out of their body parts, like lampshades made of skin, bowls made from skulls and so on. He also skinned people and wore their skin like a costume. I guess it shouldn't suprise me that he ate them too.

That's funny, I saw the move a week ago, and I was also wondering if it was true or not.

not a true story, more like based off a few different serial killers/pyschopaths, and the way they killed/acted.

i've seen both, and i thought the first was MUCH more creepy, but neither were scary. was kind of disappointed they went so far from the original movies' story line.

was still a good movie tho, i give it a thumb and a half up.

yes as stated it is roughly based on the serial killer Ed Gein, and he was one sick person making the lapshades and such, when they raided his house they found bodyparts underneath the cushions on the couch, and in the reridgerator, he also is from wisconsin like i am, and i believe where he lived was about 45 min from my home

Guess what, me and my friends are taking a road trip to Ed Geins house in about a month when the weather in Texas cools down some. It is still abandoned and no one has lived in his house ever since he was caught. I can't wait. Me and my friends always do that. We go to old abandoned mental institutes and graveyards and we ALWAYS see some crazy shit. Once we went to an abandoned mental hospital and we got chased out by this bum with a machete that LIVED there. He might not have be a patient in that hospital but that bum either is crazy or he has some big balls to live there. Anyways, we're going to Ed Gein's house in a month, when I come back I infrom you guys on the trip.

Just kidding. Me and my friends said we would but we were just playing around of course.
