Customizing cars

Why do some people customize their cars? Some cars have black tinted glass or custom wheels/tires. The space between the road and the cusom wheel rims are only a few inches. What if the driver don't see a bad pothole and destroy a custom wheel? Jeffrey.

Just because we do. Does there really have to be a reason? And just b/c you have low-profile tires and you hit a pothole doesn't mean youre gonna bend a rim. I know from experience, I've got 20s with 35 series tires and a 3/4 drop. Theres a little more than an inch between the tire and the fender well. A little too much for me which is why im going lower as soon as i have the cash. Oh and I have tinted glass.
FYI: Tinted glass isnt really "customization" it makes it a hell of a lot cooler inside(especially living here in Texas).

TexasF355F1, It looks like the bottom of your car is almost touching the ground. As for black-tinted glass, I know that if you can't see the driver or his/her mirrors, the driver can't see you or your mirrors. Jeffrey.

Are you talking about the Lambo in my sig? It looks like that b/c of the grass. The extreme tint is illegal to put on driver and passenger side windows but is legal on any windows behind the driver and front passenger. Its a lot easier to see out of dark windows than it is to see in. May sound wierd, but its the truth.

I know I don't speak for everyone when I say this but the reason I find it so addictive and fascinating to modify cars is the sense of accomplishment. The ability to take something that is someone else's and make it yours. It's like a kid with legos, its just fun know you can rip something apart and build it right back up even better.

You do work to your car because you have a deep love for cars. At least, that's my reason. I've loved cars my whole life and I love to drive something original that turns heads. A car is sooooooooo much more to me than just transportation...it's part of me.

You CAN see out of tint easier then tint.....how the hell couldn't you know that........you been in a cave???

That's a damn nice truck, yo. I don't even like trucks, either.

Not a problem at all. I'm no where even near a truck guy, persay, but I must say...good job. Much applause for the subtleness and tastefulness you've demonstrated. I wish more customizers would figure out that it is possible to over-do stuff. 'Tis good shit man.

I AGREE, ALTHOUGH UR IN HIGHSCHOOL SO AM I, DOESNT MEAN U CANT START CUSTOMIZING. I ALSO AGREE WITH THE BODY KIT THING. Y BUY A CAR IF UR GOING TO CUSTOMIZE IT TO LOOK LIKE IT CAN DESTROY A STAR WARS FIGHTER? BUY A CAR THAT LOOKS GOOD AND A A FEW TOUCHES TO THE EXTERIOR TO MAKE IT LOOK A LIL BETTER, AND NOT STOCK, IM A BIG JDM FAN. SIMPLE CLEAN, YET BEAUTIFUL.

i agree. why put a kit on that serves little purpose when you can lower the car to make it look better but also help performance for quite a bit less. oh and besides money being tight my dad is another problem that stops me from adding performance mods.

Agreed I tend to go for what's on the inside, everything which doesn't add to the performance (or even worst which will jeopardize it) don't get my interest. I will go more for a "stealth" type of custom, just a slighly modified outside stock but with massive lung under the bonnet. One of my mate done that some years ago on a Renault GT Turbo, Red color, standard black bumpers, no stikers, simple and efficient. It was great, to leave the guys in the flashy yellow 205 GTI with T16 kit crying for his mom at the lights. It's also a good way to not get too much attention from the guys in blue.

yeah i might add custom wheels maybe a stripe just to make it stand out in a crowd but i could name a lot of stuff i'd buy before the expense of a custom paint job and body kit.

This is why I got into the JDM scene as well. The exterior mods are subtle and only the people that care, would notice. I wouldn't want my car to stand out because it's aluminum spoiler is blinding people with the sun's reflection. I would keep it clean. Oh yeah, that is a nice truck. Everyday, I keep seeing Tohoe's with Altezzas. Kinda bothers me.
