Mini stereo removal

Ive just bought a mini One and would like to swap the stereo for a new sony that i have, are there special tools needed and the masks to make it standard size. any help welcomed,

If you have a harman kardon you will have to trunk mount the stereo

alright mate, if you haven't already done it, i think its the same with most cars, the tool you'll need are head unit tongs. they'll pull it out. all cars allow for head units to be replaced, so when you pull the old one out, it should have more of the dash board material sitting behind and your new head unit will fit straight in. did that answer your question?
