M45's drift well, hehe

Geez, Bunch of whiny comparers of cars. Bottom line on this car for me:
First american-offered infiniti v8 mated to a stickshift.
And it's lighter and cheaper than the Q.
Yes the infiniti v8 is that good, one of my favorite motors ever.

My friend has a 95 Q45 with HICAS (anybody know how many Q's had HICAS?) That car does crazy things when drifting, too much fun.

I usually daily drift...er drive a vg30e s12 200sx, and a heavily modded 89' hardbody truck, drifting is second nature to me. I live in michigan and learned to drive in the winter with my truck on four bald tires. Anyway..

I decided to go to the local infiniti dealer to play with a 6-spd M. We took my friends' dads' BMW M5 and dressed extra-preppy so they'd let us in the door. I started chatting up a salesman and in a few we're driving off the lot in a black 6-spd M45. BUT, salesman wanted to come with.... Whatever. So I start driving out to a culdesac still under development, just fresh asphalt and house skeltons, lots of curves, no cops or pedestrians. My friend had the salesman so distracted telling us and showing us all the doo-dads that he didn't really know where we were. I stop about 500 yards into the main entrance/exit of the flat at a 4-way without signs even put up. I look to the back seat, give a slight nod to nick who's pulling his buckle tight and grabbing the o-$hit straps. Then I look over to the bewildered salesman, pull his belt tight and say, "...if dad's going to consider buying one of these then it has to be at least competitive with the M5 he's got, right?..." The salesman responds with a worried look (I bring the tach to 4500 and start quickly practing 1st to 2nd to learn the feel) "...what'd you say it had? 3-hundred something?" As he starts to speak I side-step the dampened clutch and we go. Never had a 6 bfore and ended up using 2 and 3 more, 1st is low. First couple of curves I just get the feel and tested limits. 3rd turn, magic. It layed out out a bit with much resistance (jeez what's the skidpad rating on this thing?) 4 and 5 were a little better but I think it's got traction control or something. I finally ended up just side-stepping in second (plus hard gas stomp, thank god for the rev-limiter)and throwing it's rear hard. Success!! Sort of..... I end up doing a near spot-on 180 3/4 through the turn and stop. At this point the salesman starts yelling get , get out.... I tell him "what's the matter? It's under warrenty, and it's got like thirty airbags right? Plus you guys got the M5 back on the lot for collateral", but before he can respond... off we go. Going back I 45 the 2 rights (getting better) but it sticks going left too well (I blame nick in the back 275lb+) but the final long right, perfect silvia drift. Out of the flat back to the dealer, nick giggling the whole way. He snatched the keys and walked inside. Came back with brochures and thrust them toward us with a business card saying while gritting his teeth "...I hope to hear from your father as I assume the drive was satisfactory, and please do not return without the intended purchaser" me, "Thanx, have a nice day" we drove home laughing hesterically.

Sounds hilarious, lol, like what happens in the movie. Hope you get the car, everybody who owns one tells me it's a great car, and better than the 540i.
