grinding noise while driving
this grinding noise just started on my 96" tahoe 4WD. it is coming from the engine so i believe so. it runs the same, no lose of power or stalling. the engine light is not on. can any one help or know what it is. i like to work on my tahoe when i can so if i can fix it myself.......thanks!

Ed, does the noise happen sitting there idling ? If so take the belt off and start it to see if its still there. If its gone something belt driven is going. Shut it off and spin the pulleys with your hand try to find some roughness or possibly noise

Put it in drive whth your left foot on the brake.Give it some gas (powerbrake it ) not too much.See if the engine in lifting up. I'm wondering if the fan might be hitting the radiator shroud ? Or if it happens all the time while driving might be a wheel bearing.Or in the front differential if it's 4 wheel drive.
