"Slipping feel" from the front end

OK....first of all...I love my Durango. It's a 2003 fully loaded, with all the bells and whistles....and I love it!!! My dream came true to own one. Not cheap, but well worth it.

HOWEVER...we have had our share of problems. Won't even get into it, BUT my husband and I are not "feeling" the same things when we accelerate from a dead stop. He thinks Im crazy (most of the time I am) but not this time. When you leave from a stop, you can feel a clunk through the floor boards. You feel it more when were pulling our travel trailer, but its not all the time. Everytime I have taken it in to be serviced.....they can't feel it. Am I losing my mind???? Has anyone else had this "feeling" or is it just me?????

Any imput would be greatly appreciated.....and save our marriage

Is the clunk occurring when the automatic tranny is shifting? Or is it right when you let off the brake & just start to move.

If it's right after letting up on the brakes, try pulling the wheels & cleaning everthing real well with brake sys cleaner. Particularly rear drum brakes will make a clunking noise if real dirty & it's difficult to tell where it comes from.

Have the U-joints checked too. They are notorius clunkers.

I am horrible at isolating noise locations. Try having one of you sit in the very back while the other drives & if the noise repeats they may have a better listening position.

Let us know what fixes it.

Fully inspect the brakes if you go in there. Pad/Shoe depth & wear & rotor/drum irregularities. Get a Haynes manual for like $12 at Autozone if you don't have one.
