Turbo Setup

I'm looking to put a turbo in my 95 ls and from searching this forum it appears to be more cost effective to piece together a kit instead of buying one. I've searched more looking for the "how to" and "this is what you'll need..." and I came across this website:

http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yelevich/turbo/turbo.html

I know some of you guys actually DO know turbos so I was wondering if this guy's method of install is clean and effective. I'm a little bit leery of rippin apart my engine based on what some website says (we all know how sketchy the net can be for info). So basically, in your opinions, are his instructions good to go?

Re: Turbo Setup

They look ok, go to www.homemadeturbo.com they do the exact same thing but mostly on d-series motors. I am planning on doing a custom setup on my zc like that but I have heard tons of bad things about fmu's so I am going to get a safc (which lets you adjust fuel curve), and an msd btm (which retards timing while in boost). Hope this is a help. I would say go for it cause your engine can take some good boost.

honestly his instructions aren't to bad. anyone with some mechanical ability should be able to do it. he even tells you what exact pipeing to buy. i would change the fmu to at least an afc hack, preferable a zdyne secu if you have the money. for the oil line they make a kit to screw it on under the filter instead for a hundred bucks. it screws onto the oil filter thing and the oil filter screws on to it. don't have to worry about a t busting. also with a secu you don't have to worry about check valves or missing link. otherwise though not to bad. i don't remember seeing anything about gauges though. you need lots of gauges the more the better

Here is a link to the oil feed kit, you still have to drill the hole in the oil pan for the return but it is still better than teeing off the oil pressure sendin unit IMO http://www.daytonimports.com/Merchan...tegory_Code=GE

Also FMU are terrible IMO get s safc, vafc, hondata, etc

If you're going to run 9psi or less, you'll be better off using the FMU and missing link setup. Save your money and buy a Hondata or other engine management system and larger injectors.

He will be ok for a short period of time, but he will do damage to the injectors becuase they were not designed to hold that kind of fuel pressure with a 10:1 FMU at 9psi your fuel pressure would be around 125psi that is way too much for stock injectors instead he needs to cahnge the duty cyle of theinjector so that they stay open longer to put out more fuel instead of squirting like a supersoaker lol

Re: Turbo Setup

That's why I said save up and buy some larger injectors. Shit, I sell RC 440cc injectors for $280 shipped brand new. Don't tell me he can't afford them....
