I have a 93 accord. What do I need to do to the motor to spray a direct port 50 shot of NOS? or is it better to run it wet? All I am looking for is a little more umph of the line. I is very strong at like a 2nd gear roll from 35mph, but to 35 it sucks! Its like it lugs almost. Oh yeah by the way it is a automatic! Please Help! Thanx!

Why are you only going to do a 50 shot?? if you are going to do a direct port NOS. At least go 70!! You will need colder plugs good wires, MSD, blaster coil, different cap, fuel presser riser, and a different fuel pump. I think that is everything. Most people that do a little 50 shot just do the fogger, which don't hurt your engine much at all but with the direct port each of the injectors is getting the same amount as the fogger they wont. I thought that the Direct port NOS kits the lowest jets that they came with was the 80 shot. ANd how many miles do you have on your car??
I think the best way for a automatic would be to get the ZEX kit, but it is your car and it is up to you. |

i agree... if you go with a direct port (someone's been watching too much fast and furious...), you can run higher shot sizes since the nitrous will be divided evenly and fed the proper fuel mixture upon delivery to the combustion chamber. the big problem with nitrous injection is fuel atomisation and even distribution among cylinders. this causes hot spotting and leaning of some cylinders, there by increasing the chance for detonation. hotspotting blows holes into your pistons by causing intense heat to unevenly focus on the piston face where the nitrous and fuel werent able to mix properly. i agree with changing to plugs that are one or two ranges colder than stock and getting improved wires (i suggest NGK plugs and wires, MSD wires, or Magnecor wires... most of the others are just hype, especially Nology and any other external grounded wire) if you need a tune up, now is the time. get a compression check done and make sure your motor isnt too worn. anything over 180 in all four cylinders with less than 10% deviation from each other would be my cutoff... anything less and you're asking for trouble. as for ignition upgrade, the stock ignition is quite stout, and unless you're fogging over 75 dry or 100 wet, i wouldnt bother swapping or upgrading your ignition system. instead of ignition upgrade, go with a cockpit timing retard module. this will require an upgraded ignition just for compatibility sake, but you'll need to retard your timing for safe use of the bottle. MSD offers a few products, as does Jacobs. they allow you to retard timing for when you're planning on squeezing, and still return the car to factory timing so you dont lose performance during daily driving. MSD's ignition timing retard modules require an MSD ignition system be installed... but blaster coil and modified distributor cap arent required. as for Zex... i hate it. the power output is overrated. also, dry systems are very unsafe and inconsistent. i highly recommend the Nitrous Xpress (NX) setup. they use a dual nozzle design that mixes the fuel and nitrous just prior to injection. the dual feed/single nozzle is installed much like a dry kit, but with the mixing capability, it is much safer than any dry kit available. it is much like a direct port system/wet manifold injection with the ease of installation of a dry setup. also, it is illegal to have nitrous oxide hooked up to a street vehicle. if the bottle is connected to the system, you can be cited by police. also, it is illegal to transport nitrous oxide without a commercial vehicle license and without proper placards and signs to denote you have an oxidizer stored and transported within your vehicle. lastly, it is illegal to transport any pressurised bottles within the passenger compartment... so be careful in front of John Q. Law, cuz he can either slap your wrist, or charge you with all 4 offenses and have you in jail. the best way to avoid this is to mount the bottle in a location that's too much of a pain in the ass to find, like under the back seat... and use a remote bottle opener. (it can be catastrophic to leave the bottle open for long periods of time) also cleanly install the nozzles and lines to keep from prying eyes, or the police, if caught, will search your car further. i recommend a cold air intake, and mounting the injector below the fender liner so it's not easy to spot the lines or injector. |

Re: I have a NOS question!

dont fog under 2500rpm. you'll shock the drivetrain and you may cause catastrophic engine damage in the way of bent rods or a busted crank. also you may destroy the torque converter, flex plate, and cv axles. most setups incorporate a safety device that prevents low rpm fogging. |

i might be repeating some stuff but get these for 50-60 shot....
2 step colder spark plugs, 91+ octane gas. and its recommended to get these... retard timing 1 degrees, fuel pressure regulator, nitrous gauge, a/f gauge, msd ignition. optional to get these... bottle heater, remote bottle opener, purge valve kit. dont spray under 3k rpm and avoid spraying in 1st gear. dont redline when spraying. if your planning on get nitrous just for kicks i would say the ZEX dry kit. but if u want something to tune and upgrade in the future get the NX or NOS wet kits. Very true that a wet setup is safer than a dry setup...but if u run a small dry shot i think it is just as safe. |

Thanx for your help guys! But there is one other thing... I am a penny pincher! I already have a Nitrous Works 10lb bottle, plumbing, trigger, and nozzles but I don't have the jet or fogger for the intake. Also it has the fuel trigger too so I could hook it up wet. But then I will need a new fuel line and pump. Right? I only paid $250 for every thing. NW tech told me all I need is the jet to hook into the intake and the smallest nozzle I have got. Thats why I ask. I am just trying to save a buck. I didn't mean to mislead by saying NOS I just always refer to nitrous as nos! Thanx! Jason!

I don't think it would be a big thing to have a upgraded fuel pump if you are only going to be doing a little 50 shot fogger. I don't think you would need it for a 50 shot direct port either, but you might want to ask someone. IF you later deside on going with a bigger shot then yes get a fuel pump. THey have the kind that bolt onto your firewall and the ones that go into your tank. I would also recommend you get a blow down tube if you are going to have the bottle in your car. Just incase!!
I wouldn't suggest putting nitrous on your car if you have 200,000+ miles either. |
