The time has come.
I decided today, that from this point on I'm going to start seriously thinking about modding my car. I've got enough money currently to start, but I'm not going to officially do anything on the car until I have a precise list of parts, and the money to do it most/all of it in one swoop.
So today I was throwing a few targets around in my head as to where I want my car to be when I've finished, and currently I'm sitting on a figure of 300hp at the flywheel, with as little raise in boost over factory boost as possible. I'm also going to upgrade brakes, and do a few suspension tweaks. Basically a whole upgrade, without any exterior changes. I'm not one well knowin for my engine work, nor my knowledge of parts, so I thought I'd open this for you guys to throw around some ideas for me, to let me know what's out there, so I can comprise my list. So far: 1995 S14 200SX Stock factory SR20DET 3" exhaust Let the fun begin?

welp to increase hp with less boost start looking at other parts.
Get a 3" downpipe test pipe catback Intake system HeavyThrottle.com HotPipe Greddy Intercooler Kit Greddy Underdrive Pulleys that will probably give u 245rwhp or so..... Much more you will need new computer/injectors. And 300rwhp is kind of a bad thing to shoot for on a stock turbo, unless you wanted to build up the engine lol. Maybe get one of those Big 28, they take the T-25 and do some secret mods to them or such, and it can make some more HP, I know of one person using it over 320rwhp! You send in your stock turbo and they do the mods to that, so it fits perfectly just like stock with all the other components. |

Nice… I also got serious about moding my Nissan … well I sold the 1990 Stanza and I got a 90, 240; and as your reading this, a sr20 blktp is being installed in it. Finally after one year of saving things are coming together now.
Good luck |

I'm aiming for a streetable 300hp at the flywheel, not at the wheels, so the target is a little lower. However, I'm going to make it so if I'm at the strip, I can bump up to around 15psi, just for slightly improved times and such. Having a huge amount of power at the wheels all day is just going to get me in trouble. Running low psi for day to day use will be much better on the engine anyway. I think first port of call will be throwing away the tiny SMIC, and throwing in a good FM. From there, I can use the existing gap where the sidemount used to be, to get copious amounts of cold air for my intake. I'm in no hurry with this. I don't intend on selling this car in at least the next 5 years, so I've got time to plan everything out carefully. |

you should figure out what horsepower you want at the wheels, not at the flywheel. if you're going to measure it at the flywheel, why not at the crank, why not at the rear end, why not anywhere else random? flywheel horsepower figures are imaginary(well so is horsepower itself, but whatever)by definition, which brings us back to sentence one. shoot for a fig at the wheels, not the fly.
well first thing's first, let it breathe better by performing basics. if you want adjustable boost levels, go with a nice adjustable BOV, wastegate, and electronic boost controller. after you get the basics and boost control on there, you can think about a bigger turbo. with this comes alot more things, like internals, fuel, spark, ecu, etc. but it looks like you dont really wanna get into all that, so i'd say go with the basics and then up your boost. that option should give you respectable, versatile, and relativley inexpensive power. but with the bigger turbo, again stated, comes a whole list of things you will probably need, depending on power levels and tuning options.

chris I would defintely make a 3"Downpipe 3"TestPipe or high flow Cat and a 3" exhaust system one of your first few purchases.

The previous owner already tended to the exhaust, which saves me having to go through most of that. Although I'm not sure just how far back it goes. I've been meaning to get it up on a hoist to see. At the moment, I'm leaning towards starting with a FMIC, instead of the tiny side mount. The main reason why I want to start with this, is because where the side mount is, would be an absolutly supreme location for air intake. |
