Shifting

Im new to car and this is my first car(98 ls)...and got some question about it... what rpm should i shift at while doin 1/4 mile...i usuauly shift at 6800rpm... and when i shift from 1st to 2nd the car pull and make a noise(not a noise with the engine but just like when ur taken off fast and the tired spin or something or maybe i got no meat left on my tired ahahah only about 45% left on it) ...

and another question im planning on vtec my ls or just i/h/e it but i would probably i/h/e cause got no money... example if i use a dc header or other header i would b able to use any exhaust system with it rite???...

with a 98ls your max RPM's are at 6200, you can get away with shifting at 61 or 63. at 6800 your losing power, so dont shift there..

more like 10-12 hp to the wheels.

i/h/e are all SIMPLE mod's that anyone w/ any type of brain can install by themselves which makes them a lot more tempting to buy as first mods.

Yes about the first part, no about the second.

On a stock 4-banger with a header 5-7HP. Thats not hella power. Stock Honda/Acura exhaust manifolds flow pretty damn good compared to other car makers, there always room for improvement.

so i got a question then. I have a 97ls. and i have exhaust(OBX) just the muffler no pipes, and intake(AEM). What would be my best bet to boost hp? money is an issue to an extent, but i mean, i know nothings cheap.

i figure i havnt added much hp with those 2 things, maybe 1 or 2, but the sound is there now...but now i want hp...so give me some ideas, thanx
