Radio replacement 1992 Chevy C1500

Some of hte buttons on the radio have stopped working and I was lucky enough to obtain a second hand radio for the truck. My questions is, how does one start to take apart the dash to get at the back of the radio. I have had the drivers console off the removed the radio, but the wires go way into the dash. I just need to disconnect the wires from the old and reconnect the new one. Is there a website with a schematic or instructions? Any help would be much appreciated.

The radio is only 1 part of the system. The amp is above the fuel peddle and do you have a cassette player? I recently put a cd player where the cassette player was and put a cd holder where the radio was.
