2000 Civic Si vs. 2003 Hyundai Tiburon (4 cylinder)

Who would win? I believe an Si would kill the 4 cyl. Tib (but I'm partial to the 2000 Si so.... but if I'm right isn't the 2003 Tib one of the heaviest cars in it's class? By the way...this is stock vs stock

LOL. Is this even a question?

The 2000 Si can keep-up/beat the V6 versions with a good driver.

I went with my friend when he test drove a customer's 2003 Tiburon 4-cyl after he installed a ZEX dry-kit with a 60-shot jet. My freaking Sentra still felt faster...seriously.

The Tibby-4 has less HP, carrying more weight than an Si.

thanks that's exactly what I thought but I have a friend that is consistent that his Tib would beat an Si...he's one of those 'I'm right, you're wrong' people. ONce again his ignorance is shown.

I've taken v6 tiburons no problems, they are about as fast as a v6 mustang,...very heavy.the tib in a 4-banger would be a laugh.

The Tib weighs 385lbs more and has 26 less horsepower. It has 21lbs/ft of torque more, but that wouldn't matter. I think you'd be about a full second faster up to 60.

well it just so happens that a friend of mine who owns a v6 tiburon beat the living shit out of a 2000-02 honda civic si. He found it weird because he had heard so many good things about that car and was surprised when he beat the shit out of it...probably a crappy driver in the honda
i have nothing but respect for honda's...in reality it all depends on the driver

didnt SI's only come in 99-00 with the B16A2 and then come back in 02 with the K20A?

was it the hatch or the coupe style? I heard the older Si's are faster.

99-00 si's were the 6th gens, an they were the quickest of the si's (so far), they sported the b16a2 (coupe)

the 01-present rock the k20a2 and they are a bit slower than the ones before (hatch version)

yeup, a v6 tib SHOULD beat the 6th gen civic si (stock for stock), but it still could come down to a drivers race...

the 4 cyl. tho, that is no contest...(an thats the one we're talking about)

damn i learn something new everyday, I thought the new civic came out in 01 and the SI didnt come back til 02, but whatevr, and i still dont see how the newer SI si slower i mean

new SI old SI
2.0L 1.6L
160HP@6500 160HP@7600
132ft/lbs@5000 111ft/lbs@7000
2744lbs 2601

sure it weighs in at 140 lbs more but seems like even though the peak hp is the same, the newer SI has much more earlier and would have the power to make up for the weight.

is the gearing on the new si much taller? or is it much less aerodynamic?

i raced the new Si (02-present) when i first got my 2000 si (coupe) we were both stock for stock as far as i could see, except his windows were tinted . anyways me, him and a 01 civic ex were lined up and i was about a car length and a half in front of him and he chased me all the way down the street until i got near the police stationand slowed down and he finally caught up. as far as i know the old SI is faster.
