Random rpm loss in 2002 millenia
2002 Millennia.I'm losing roughly 500 to 1000 rpm's suddenly and somewhat randomly at 2000 to 3000 rpm's typically. This occurs after car has been running for at least twenty minutes and.. ALWAYS after its been run; then shut off; then run again.
Sometimes the RPM loss occurs once or twice-like a hi cup.. but then other times it goes on a roll of numerous rpm losses and it feels like a mini bucking action with rpm loss; then normal rpm’s; then rpm loss... occurring repeatedly for as much as 15 minutes at a time. Two mechanics have worked on the car and perhaps coincidently the problems started after the AC system required a new condenser. #1 mechanic repaired the AC. A couple days after the AC repair, the car would lose rpm's. One time I booted it and got up to 4500 -5000 rpm's and blew heavy white smoke out the back? indicative of a head gasket I thought but #1 said he didn't believe it would just come and go once or twice the smoke wouldn't just appear randomly it would be continuous... #1 mechanic then replaced plugs and wires etc. ran diagnostics and came up with codes indicating transmission issues........ Enter #2 mechanic who was was a transmission guru "Dr. Transmission " was his moniker...#2 replaced two transmission sensors BUT the problems continued.. #2 looked at the car again and replaced yet another sensor and voile...nothin! Same old problems occurring with the hesitation continuing ...which, leads me here. My friend thinks its fuel system related (Pump or injectors) which makes at least more sense because if the tranny was slipping; RPM's would increase NOT decrease, power loss probably might still be experienced however. #1 mechanic said I should simply "get a new car"... but with three kids college costs I need to keep my already paid-off vehicle. Help me out if you can... Thanks: Chris |

Re: Random rpm loss in 2002 millenia
sort of sounds like injector problems but its not an easy thing to diagnose from an internet description. also, if you can, check your MAFS, oxygen sensors, and possibly TPS. its not your fuel pump because they either work or dont. and if it was an intermittent pump problem, it wouldnt kick on or off depending on RPM.
