The mustang will beat it by a short amount to 60 then after that the bimmer will walk away from it. The 99 and newer mustangs are very over rated. Here is a thread about a E30 325 (slightly moded) beating a 200 MGT. http://www.dtmpower.net/forum/showth...&threadid=4198

So, since when can an E46 325 run 13.8 in the 1/4. Cause the last time I checked they didn't. The GT will destroy the bimmer in straightline acceleration. 0-60 of the GT is around 5.7, 0-60 of the 325 is around 6.8. Maybe on the highway, assuming the GT didn't have gears, then the 325 might, might have an edge but even then I doubt it. I'm sorry, but that link was BS, something was terribly wrong there. I don't know why people dog mustangs so damn much, it pisses me off really, they make think they are slow but they are grossly mistaken.

A stock MGT running high 13's never seen one or heard of one. The Mustang SVT does the quarter in 14.1 according to Car and Driver and it has 80 more hp, a higher red-line, better gearing, better suspension, and weighs less.

I don't know what to say about that particular Cobra except for the fact that the 99's weren't producing the rated horsepower which would explain the slower times. I hate to tell you 328isRob, but you picked the wrong link: http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caran...stang&class=22

And I quote, "Then we strapped on the test gear and made a few runs at the track. The results were staggering—the Cobra's acceleration time matched a Camaro SS's. The Cobra scooted to 60 mph in only 4.8 seconds and through the quarter in 13.5 seconds at 105 mph. Our last Z28SS (a particularly quick model we tested in October 1998) hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and did the quarter in 13.5 seconds at 107 mph."

For further information, Muscle Mustangs and Fast Ford's ran a 13.35 with one powershifting. If you go to the 4.6Modular forum on www.stanget.com you will consistantly see guys running 13.8-14.4 with bone stock 99-up GT's. If this isn't proof enough for you, then I've got more.

in a real race, the bmw would win. straight-line acceleration is very minor in a real race, that is one with turns.

Well since we're magazine racing Perhaps ya'll would care to follow a similiar Car and Driver link that says the 328is runs the quarter in 15 seconds........for those of you keeping score at home.....thats slower than the 14.4 listed for a GT at autoweek.com. ..... http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caran...lass=43&page=3
