New CityRover and Streetwise
Here it is, the new CityRover car from Rover. It's made by Tata in India (It's the same car as their Indica) and it's pretty cheap for the amount of space, speed and spec it has with prices probably between £6,500 and £8,500. It has a 1.4 engine with about 85 bhp and comes in Solo, Sprite, Select and Style models. And this is the new Rover Streetwise. It's coming out in the UK towards the end of August and basically a jacked up Rover 25 with bigger wheels and higher suspension. It also has 'robust moulded bumpers, wheelarch protectors and rubbing strips all in a scratch-resistant dark grey-grained finish'. This car also has a 1.4 with 85 or 105 bhp, or a 100 bhp turbo diesel. And prices will be about £9,000. Neither of these cars move the game on for the automotive industry, but they certainly do for Rover. Their sales are slowly increasing, especially with the MG cars, and new models can only be a good thing. |

If the Indica can sell as much as the Austin Metro- it could prove a godsend for Rover- it certainly looks nice

Re: New CityRover and Streetwise
Yuk.... i think the CityRover is comprehensively out-styled by the Honda Jazz.
When I saw an ad for this “streetwise” Rover, first of all I laughed at the car’s appearance, and then laughed uncontrollably as I realised “Streetwise” was the name of the car, and not just a description of its character thought up by Rover’s marketing gurus. The genius who came up with the name “Rover Streetwise” proves that people who go into marketing rarely have a brain. |
