Tranny Question....

Hay my 3rd gear is starting to grind when I downshift from a higher gear.....Do you think the dealer will fix it? I have the extended waranty only thing is it drives fine when your driving normal....Its only when im racing that it happens....Any tips on how to fix the problem without having to open it? or should I just take it to the dealer and tell them it only happens when im racing?

tell them your racing Thats a good way to VOID the warranty. Dont tell them you race it & let them test drive & hopefully duplicate the porblem. Either way you will have to OK tranny removal & tear-down, which is like 4-6hrs of labor. Once they are inside & find the problem an inspector from the warranty compay will come out to take pictures & ask for ALL maintenence records. If they(warranty company) Ok's repairs then your all good if not your stuck with a torn down trans + labor time. If you want it fixed you must add in rebuild labor, parts, install labor. The dealer will also tell you downshifting is not recommended.

There is no reason to slam any gear up or down.
Think of the shift knob as an egg. Try shifting without breaking the "egg"

One more thing to add:
"If" the warranty covers any repairs, they will not pay for removal/install of aftermarket parts.

Do you rev-match when downshifting?

I worked on a super-charged car once under warranty. The s/c belt needed to be removed during repairs but they would not let us re-install the belt. That part was up to the customer.
