Question Sunbird

Hello,

My girlfriend has a 1989 Pontiac Sunbird. Her engine blew on her about a month ago, and we need to replace it. She owes to much on it to just junk it. She doen't have the money to buy a new engine, and we have access to repoed cars and the like for extremly cheap. My question is: What engines are interchangeable. (without extensive modifications, we do have a car teck in the family to do it but we're on a short time schedule.)Year, Make, Model and any information you have about it would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Here's my .02
Salvage yards usually have the interchangability information on hand.

Give one a call and see what they say. If you get a salvage engine make sure they warranty it for at least a year. Most do... but some don't.

Good luck and Welcome to AF

The Sunbirds had either the 2.0 L or the 2.8 L pre 90, 90 - 94 had the 3.1 L, any of these would fit but I would try the 3.1, lotsa tourque, 185 ft-lbs.
