CD Your bumper looks nice! Which Swampers are you running? Do you have a plywood floor on your Surco rack? I still have to fiddle with my ax and shovel carrier for the Hi-lift!

Thanks rrdstarr! I painted the body panels and the body underneath the tailgate black for consistency. Also to hide the bumper a little more.

It's a piece of sheetmetal cut to fit the bottom of the rack. I painted it yellow to match the truck and added some weather stripping on its underside to keep it from rattling.

I still have to fiddle with my ax and shovel carrier for the Hi-lift!

Wierd. Your diff looks brand new in the 1st few pictures and then dirty like most peoples in the last one.

So does the CB whip give you any better reception?

I like the spare tire clamp/screw/whatever. The corner fender cut worked well on the drivers side. If it could have been as clean on the right, it would almost look like the bumper was designed for the truck.

For some reason my brain didn't understand this question the first time. Ok, now I get it. Yeah, that would be a good option if possible! So is it?

Sure it could be done. I never even thought about that, then again I like it the way it is

Anyone have any experience with turning a bumper into an air source? I have been toying with the idea but I have NO idea what would be involved. Thoughts?

CD Ask Gordon "Warmonger" he has some sorta onboard air storage system? To make a rear bumper into and airtank would take lots of welding! I think it would be easier to install a flat pancake type tank (strapped up to the spare location but half the thickness of your spare so it wouldn't be subected to rocks) where your spare used to be and have an air connection like the CalMini truck did. It came right outta/through the bumper.

As long as the "pancake" doesn't drop below the spring shackles you will be all right. As for turning a bumper into an air tank, it is doable, but the bumper needs to be built with this thought in mind. All welded parts need to be open to allow air to flow from one to the other and the welds have to be perfectly sealed, no porosity. You also need enough cubic inches available to provide a reasonable amount of air. I have seen one buggy that was built on a tubular chassis and the entire chassis was one big air tank. It took a lot of planning and careful welding though. I also have a friend who builds tube bumpers for 4WD trucks that are designed for air storage. Make sure whatever you do that you have a covered spot for the air fitting. It will become clogged with dirt and mud if you don't. My friend that builds tube bumpers builds a box with a latched door for the air fitting.

Please supply some contact info! I've been searching for something like that. I have front and rear QD's that have so much dust its a real pain to get the hose to connect! I've asked around locally and people look at me like I'm nuts.
