................is just as bad, if not worse, than car shopping!
Alex and I spent the better part of this past weekend jewelry store hopping for wedding rings. We went to a few stand-alone stores and to many in-mall stores...and holy crap on a stick it sucked!!! The most annoying thing was alot of the sales people looked down on us because we had a set budget and did not want to finance. Alex and I believe the meaning behind marriage is more important than how fancy or expensive the rings are. And one thing we have agreed on is that we want our only debt for starting out to be the house payments, living expenses and we each have a small loan we're paying off...he has a personal loan and I have my student loan from last semester. We also are NOT financing the wedding either. Alot of the in-mall stores felt like we were in a swap mart. Some of the stand-alones were either too uppity or to blah, nothing really jumped out at me. Alex decided he wanted a plain white gold band and I wanted something simple but with a stone or 2 just for added femininity and a little character.
Longer story short, we ultimately ended up going to the original store he got my engagement ring at. (we went to another location of the same place first but didn't like the feeling we got from there). The girl who helped us was real nice...her being close our age was probably a big factor in why we liked her. She laughed and joked around with us and seemed to be more of genuine person than the commission-hungry vultures we'd dealt with all weekend long.
By the end of our time there (1/2 hour) we came to a decision. It was a bit more than we planned on spending but we felt the rings we picked were worth it since we didnt want to settle for something just because and the quality of the jewelry from this store is better than most of them around here.....so
Alex got his wedding band and I chose a white gold band with 12 little diamonds inlaid in it. It's gorgeous

I get to pick it up tomorrow nite, since it had to be resized, but we brought his ring home last night.
So as of now we have our rings, plane tix to Florida, a date, and a minister. Now on with the rest of the details
