Question about F-Bodys
What i read from somewhere is that the 1996 and up models of Firebirds come with a standard 3.8l v6 200hp 245lb/f engine. Is that true? And if it is, how good is that? Right now i have a little v4 115hp Cavalier, and im looking for somthing fast. I have about $5000 to spend, so im looking into used firebirds. I test drove a 1996 and it didnt seem to have the power i expected it to have. Any thoughts would be GREATLY appericatied! Thanks in advance.

You can probably find a early 4th Gen 93-95 with an LT1 for around $5K . Theres some on www.camaroz28.com for around that much, of course, they usually have 100K+ miles on them. You might also be able to find a nice 3rd gen with a TPI 350 for that price.

Mikester66 is right, you can find an LT1 with some high miles on it for about 5k. I got mine extra cheap
. You can also look into other cars, but T/A's and Camaro's are the way to go for power. Just make sure what you get is in good shape.

Whatever you do dont get a v6 you'll be dissapointed again as the engine is a p.o.s and there is very limited power. For $5k you can get a decent LT1 or better yet save your $$$ for a little longer and get a 98-up LS1. You can find a good shape LS1 for under $10k.....
