Question §peeding

A few days ago I got a speeding ticket. I was doing 69 in a 55. I pay my car payment so my parents help out and pay my insurance. I haven't told them about the ticket yet. Is it likely that I could get it dropped? What is the deal with the prayer of judgement?

What is prayer for judgement?

I assume it is some sort of ticket write off where you take a class or pay an extra fee to have the ticket changed to a non moving violation.

A non moving violation would be your best bet, find out if there is a traffic class you can take or if the court prosecuter can have your ticket thrown out of court by paying court fees + the fine.

Also moving this to another appropriate forum.

Or you could just admit you did something wrong and stop whining.

I know I did something wrong. However, I was trying to find the best way to solve the problem that I started.

The best way? It sounds to me like you're confusing the best way with the way that lets youhide it from your parents.

wait, who am i to judge?

Tell your folks. They'll find out anyway. Your insurance may or may not go up, but your folks will know. Own up.

I'm going to tell my parents. They've just been so happy lately because it was recently their anniversary and I didn't want to mess that up. But I think tomorrow I'll tell them.

Speeding tickets are a bitch. I just got a ticket for doing 78 in a 65 and f#cked up my one year deferment on my 100 in a 65 ticket. Now I'm looking at loosing my licence and/or my car. Still havent told my parents though and they pay for my car and insurance.

82 in a 55 here... Parents didn't give a shit. I was so worried about telling them too.

Parents are usually pretty understanding about this kind of thing. Just tell them you'll pay whatever the insurance is over what they were paying, and you'll pay the ticket. If you are in the states, your first ticket doesnt usually go on your insurance record anyway. They work on a point system. A speeding ticket, depending on the severity, is usually 2 points. You have to make it to four points to raise your insurance.

A ticket for street racing is 8 points usually.

Just request a mitigation. Usually the judge will lower the sentence because you showed some responsibility and came to court.
